I do hope Matt Osbourne is right in his analysis of the Gaza situation. I must say its heartening to observe the annihilation of Hamas. I have hated the religion of Islam since the 1980s when I came to understand it is a death cult promoting hate and misogyny. I started despising it through a feminist analysis and then realised what is bad for women and children is also bad for all of humanity and the actions of the Islamicist terrorists controlling Hamas have clearly demonstrated in the last few months how their plan for the world will unfold if they had power.
Shalom Shani Louk, the horror embedded in my heart at your fate means I’ll never stop openly condemning Islam and the evil culture that did that to you.
And then there is this brilliant piece from Louise Perry
The next project
The last time I went overseas to teach textile art was when I went to Canada in 2008. The first week was spent in Vancouver as I was curious to see the city where my sons father grew up. Then I went on to Ottawa for the teaching event.
While in Ottawa I went to this wonderful shop which sold all cards. Pictured below is one of 3 cards I bought which were illustrated with art from a French artist named Isabelle Vaugeois. I love the art on her 3 cards so much they have been permanently displayed on my inspiration board for the last 15 years!
In the centre, illustration by on a card by Isabelle Vaugeois, 15cmx 15cm. Bought in Ottawa, Canada in 2008.
Somewhat belatedly, yesterday I started gathering resources to make a piece of embellished textile inspired by the colours and motifs in the Vaugeois illustration. In the composition shown above, surrounding the card are some pieces of fabric I’ve collected to use along with a motif sewed on a piece of transparent red organza on the top left.
I’m off to my sewing machine for the rest of the day to sew some more stuff. Oh joy! I just have to banish Lulu the Galah as she always wants to take over.

Thank you for the beauty you create. Just imagine if humans created beauty instead of misery. The card by Vaugeois is also stunning.
Always inspirational!!
